SID Observation Report of May 2012

Monitoring Station: NWC at 19.8KHz | Detection Sensitivity 3.7

Receiving Site: Bangladesh Astronomical Observatory Radio Astronomy Station (Lat: 23°42.440´N Long: 90°29.519´E)

Observer- Tarif Rashid Santo (AAVSO-A133)

This month the most active region was 1476. It started its flare activity from the beginning of the month and continued to the half of the month. On 17 may AR1476 produced an intense M5.1 flare which causes a S2 level solar radiation storm and we received a great SID trace. After this active regions activity, the X-ray plot shows very low solar activity. Some featuring SID graphs are included below.

06May2012:

Two events were observed. First one is from a M1.1 class flare and the rest one is from a C3.9 class flare. Look at the green line of the graph.

10May2012:

A series of SID were recorded this day. The Total number is Six. The first one is from a M5.7 class flare then it continuous with a series of C class flares.

13May2012:

Only Two Events were observed.

17 May2012:

Only one but intense event was observed this day. The event was generated from an M5.1 class flare.
